Courtney O’Malley, who was appointed President of The Starr Foundation in 2023, has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and executive leadership. Her deep and long-term dedication to The Starr Foundation includes having served as its Vice President from 2003 to 2013, and as an Advisor to the Starr International Foundation from 2009 to 2013.
Before returning to The Starr Foundation, Courtney served as the Executive Director of the Theodore J. Forstmann Charitable Trust, where she successfully fulfilled the Trust’s mission to spend down its assets for the benefit of children worldwide.
Earlier in her career, Courtney served in a variety of leadership roles with other grantmaking organizations including the Picower Foundation, the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, and the Frances L. & Edwin L. Cummings Memorial Fund. She was also the Director of Strategic Planning and Development for the Family Resource Coalition in Chicago.
Courtney holds a bachelor of arts in political science and history from Wellesley College, where she graduated cum laude in 1986, and a master of public administration from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
