Recognizing that students need help to prepare for and succeed in higher education, The Starr Foundation has funded college access programs focused on early academic enrichment, college awareness, and personalized support, so that students are better prepared to navigate the pathway from elementary school through high school and college.
Foundation support has ranged from academic readiness and leadership development programs such as the Oliver Scholars program, Prep for Prep, Posse Foundation, and the TEAK Fellowship, to scholarship assistance at K–12 schools, including De La Salle Academy and George Jackson Academy in New York City, to a broad range of other private schools internationally. By providing mentorship, tutoring, college-readiness workshops, and exposure to college environments, these programs empower students to achieve their educational goals, ultimately increasing college enrollment and graduation rates among participants and preparing them to thrive in college and beyond.
