As Board Chair, Maurice R. Greenberg built on C.V. Starr’s legacy with Foundation-endowed scholarship programs at independent K–12 schools, colleges, and universities worldwide.
The C.V. Starr and Maurice R. Greenberg Endowed Scholarship Fund programs were launched in 1980 and 2012, respectively. Grants totaling $326 million have established 193 funds at 144 schools, providing deserving students with sustainable, continuous support. Over the decades, these endowments have generated $358 million in scholarship support, reducing students’ financial strain so they may concentrate on academic and professional success. While scholarships are based on need and merit, some focus on students pursuing a particular field of study such as Mandarin, business, dance, or Asian studies, or those who plan to study abroad.
